Status: Ch. V +08 Recap
With Status Seasonal Ch. VI right around the corner (happening on November 21st) I figured it was about time I recapped last year's show, Status Seasonal Ch. V.
Status Seasonal is a home favourite for me as the car selection is always some of the best fitment related builds within Australia, some travelling all the way from Queensland. No matter what car you have in the garage you can always find inspiration from the curated list of cars attending the show. VIP, Track, Exotic, JDM, USDM, AUDM, the list goes on. Chapter V (2024) saw the inclusion of an Arcade area softly touched by red, blue and purple ambient lighting alongside the regular stalls and food vendors. I unfortunately did not get to enjoy the arcade as I arrived with only an hour left in the show!
For Chapter V (2024), I was lucky enough to have worked on over 8 vehicles attending the show from minor fender work to full blown suspension setups. I was particularly excited for the 2024 show as it was the first time I had 4 fully setup, static show cars under one roof, more on them in a bit.
The biggest highlight of the night was Thomas taking home the Best on Coils trophy in his 86 set up by plus08. If you ever have an appointment with me or are in my shop in Braybrook, you'll see the award up on the shelves next to my old award from Status 2021.
Ok, now to get into the builds, below I’ll run through some of the key cars I had worked on at the show.

Status Seasonal has always felt like an art exhibition which is why I think I enjoy it so much. I personally treat modifying cars like art, altering body lines, accentuating curves and angles, adding or subtracting things from a car to give it a feel/aura when you look at it. I believe the most important part of a car is how it makes you feel when you look at it, not when you drive it (controversial maybe?). If you can’t stare at your car and get giggly, or you don’t turn back when you walk away from it in the parking lot, you're really missing out.
Auto manufacturers spend millions to ensure their cars are personified, involve biases, extract feelings and emotions all before you even unlock the car. I believe those are the feelings that connect a person to their car. When people build a car for power or a certain driving purpose, the car becomes a tool. The moment that tool doesn't do its job or the job gets boring, it's on to the next one. I'm also a hoarder so this could just be making up excuses for keeping things that look cool.
Anyway… I'm excited to see what Status Seasonal Ch. VI (2025) has in store for Melbourne. I will not be attending but will hopefully have some content shot by others to create a recap!
