Lowering springs are a lower cost alternative to coilovers that provide better overall driving feel and feedback whilst also improving the cars looks by lowering the car and minimising the wheel gap. For vehicles like the MK7/7.5 Golf that have Adaptive Suspension (comfort modes on the centre console), Lowering springs utilise the stock struts meaning you retain all your comfort modes and standard functionality with improved looks and performance.

The options outlined the available lowering spring kits for this chassis supplied through plus08. Please be careful when selecting the variant for your car. You also have the option to pre-purchase installation.

These kits come with 4 lowering springs. 2 Front and 2 Rear. These springs are designed to replace your existing springs on your stock suspension.

Plus08 Notes (Please Read Before Buying)

For the GTI, the Whiteline 30mm and 25mm drop is perfect for closing the wheel and tyre gap for a daily driver (Image of black and white Golf on silver wheels). The H&R 35mm drop is for the fitment/performance focused, as the drop leave very little gap between tyre and fender with stock wheels (See last image of White Golf on Black wheels).

For the Golf R, as the car is already lower than the GTI from factory, the 20mm drop from Whiteline results in a 1-2 finger gap between your tyres and fenders with stock wheels, perfect for a daily driver (See image of grey Golf). The H&R 35mm drop will close that gap completely leaving a small gap between the tyre and fender for tight wheel fitment (See last image of White Golf on Black wheels).

Both springs ride firmer than standard. The H&R spring ride firmer than Whiteline.

Wheel Specs and Fitment on Springs

I highly recommend getting Camber Tops when getting lowering springs. This will add a degree of negative camber in the front providing better turn in and response, balancing out the vehicle. The added castor helps with steering feel and recentring. These Camber Tops are also critical if you wish to run the infamous 18x9 +35 wheel spec and 235 or 245 tyres. If you run this wheel spec with lowering springs and without camber tops, you'll run into a whole lot of rubbing issues in the front. I supply two versions of the camber tops: SuperPro and Whiteline.
